Fire Services - Burning Bylaw

OPEN AIR BURNING BY-LAW
The
Fort Erie Fire Department
has implemented a pro-active approach to dealing with Open Air Burning within the Town. A common scene, good neighbor approach was taken to create sensible, fair and easy to follow rules to have a camp fire without affecting fellow neighbors.
This By-Law includes container type, size, location, weather conditions, acceptable materials to be burnt, requires supervision, suppression devices and more.
The purpose of this By-Law is to reduce burning complaints. These reductions relieve the fire service and assist the community by:
Keeping emergency crews available for other life-threatening and fire incidents.
Reduce costs associated with emergency responses (truck wear and tear, fuel and manpower).
Reduces the always present potential for accidents that could occur when emergency responders drive to the fire hall as well as to the scene in emergency vehicles.
